Your first renters policy in four steps
A short checklist for first-time renters: count your stuff, pick limits, check the lease, and set it up.

1. Count what you own
Walk through each room with your phone and take a short video. Open drawers and closets. Add rough replacement prices for the big items: laptop, TV, furniture, clothes. Most people are surprised by the total.
2. Pick your limits
Choose a personal property limit near your total and a liability limit of at least 100,000 dollars. Higher liability limits are inexpensive and can matter a lot.
3. Check your lease
Some leases require renters cover and name a minimum liability limit. Send us the lease clause and we will match it.
4. Set it up
Start the policy before you move in. Keep the video and receipts in one folder you can reach from your phone.
